Make something and join the fray! Towering head-pieces, burlesque body-extensions, performing objects, and cacophonous instruments are all welcome. This year, everyone must wear a COVID-safe face covering (bonus points if you make it into something beautiful). Line-up starts along N 5th Street at the Hudson Area Library at 1PM and we step off at 2PM. Let us know you're coming and we'll give you your very own, personalized socially-distant space in the Parade. Last-minute, off-the-cuff Hatters can also check in at the Library gates on the day of the event.

HELP! How do I make a Mad Hat? Got any tips?

YES, we've got a whole workshop! Come to an all-ages Mad Hat Slam for hours of free Millinery Madness. We'll hook you up with basic workshop materials and tools, (bling & exotic accessories are on you). Location and times will be announced soon, so let us know if you’d like to stay informed or reserve a spot in an upcoming Hat Slam.

I want to be in the Parade, but I’m not so crafty. Can I join even if I don’t make something?

YES, we have many Mad Hats (as well as giant puppets, masks, etc.) longing to be worn, and we need volunteers like YOU to bring them to life in the Parade. Just fill out our online volunteer form, and we’ll be in touch. No experience is necessary – one will be provided!

Do you need help organizing the parade?

YES! Especially this year, we'll need a few extra hands to safely line up the parade, hand out extra hats and masks, and cheerfully help people keep a safe distance in procession. If you are fully vaccinated (2 weeks past final dose) please contact us via our online volunteer form if you would like to join out cadre of Mad Hat Marshals.
